I recently came across a wonderful reminder of how much of a positive impact local business interaction with the community can make.
Girl Scouts from Troop 71830 recently worked with neighborhood volunteers to clear a trail by Textile Research Institute to allow the Riverside community in Princeton better access to Carnegie Lake.
Two scouts, Danielle Almstead and Arianna Tartaglia, earned their silver award. What you and I wouldn’t know, because they don’t do it for the publicity or a tax write-off, but because they genuinely care about the quality of life of their customers, McCaffrey’s donated lunch for the scouts and other neighborhood volunteers.
So, congratulations to the scouts, the neighbors, TRI and McCaffrey’s for working together to make the community a better place. Coincidentally, McCaffrey’s is celebrating its 20th year at The Princeton Shopping Center on Saturday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They have food samples and lots of fun scheduled for the event.
Fall fun
The Witherspoon Grill’s fourth annual Harvest and Music Festival will be held at Hinds Plaza in Princeton on Sunday, Oct. 7, from noon to 5 p.m., and will feature music and food. They’ll be collecting donations of food and money for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, too.
