MANVILLE: Police Blotter, Sept. 27

   There was a minor motor vehicle crash in the Quick Chek parking lot at 6:07 a.m. on Sept. 17. Police responded and reported a two-vehicle accident.

   A complainant came to police headquarters on Sept. 17 at 8:43 a.m. to report his children had not been turned over to him by their mother as per a civil agreement. He wanted to make this a matter of record at the request of his attorney.

* * *

   On Sept. 17 at 10:31, Cathy Franklin of Adesa requested an officer to check on a recovered stolen vehicle in their lot. Patrol responded and reported Adesa could not locate the vehicle at that time.

   ACI Alarm Co. reported a burglar alarm at 500 West Complain on Sept. 17 at 11:17 a.m. The alarm was coming from the front dining room entry. Patrol responded and reported the alarm was set off by an employee.

   On Sept. 17 at 11:25 a.m. Michele Chwiedosiuk of the European Deli, 260 South Main St., reported two suspicious incidents that had occurred the previous week. A man about 45 years old came into the strore and asked to borrow $20 for gas. The man then went to an employee’s home on South Arlington Avenue and asked for money. He left with $60 and said he would return at a later date to pay back the money. Ms. Chwiedosiuk wanted to make it a matter of record and was advised to contact police headquarters if he returns.

   Christopher Hayden of 62 North Orchard St. reported on Sept. 17 at 1:20 p.m. that Conrail trucks were driving fast along the tracks. Police responded and advised Conrail to slow down.

   On Sept. 17 at 5:07 p.m. Roger Seiberg of 254 South Main St. called regarding an incident that occurred in Fairlawn. Mr. Seiberg said he delivered an appliance and the customer did not want the order and refused to pay for gas. Sgt. Ronald Gazaway advised Mr. Seiberg it is a civil matter.

   An anonymous caller reported a wire down at West Camplain and South 5th Ave. on Sept. 17 at 5:19 p.m. Police responded and reported it was a Cablevision wire and it had been tied back. Cablevision was notified.

   Patrolman Joseph Buda stopped Lenny Cerillo of 10 South 9th Ave. for driving while suspended on Sept. 17 at 5:57 p.m. Mr. Cerillo was processed on scene.

   On Sept. 17 at 6:39 p.m. a caller requested a well-being check on his mother. Patrol responded and reported the house was empty, the door unsecured and no one was around.

   County Communications reported a squad call for a 68-year-old diabetic emergency on Sept. 17 at 9:18 p.m. Police and the squad responded and transported the man to Somerset Medical Center.

   On Sept. 17 at 10:08 p.m., the Bridgewater Police Department reported a verbal argument between a man and a woman with no reported injuries. Albert Thomas, 40, of 601 West Complain Road was charged with disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $1,000. He was processed and taken to the Somerset County Jail.

   Joseph Jasinski reported a noise complaint on Sept. 17 at 10:10 p.m. A group was playing basketball on the playground. Police responded as the group was leaving. There were no problems.

   Christina Cardali reported a noise complaint coming from her downstairs tenant on Sept. 17 at 11:04 p.m. Police responded and all was quiet. Ms. Cardali was advised of her right to sign complaints.

   On Sept. 17 at 11:55 p.m., Tanisha Gilbert reported having an unwanted guest, Teresa Jackson, at her residence. Ms. Jackson left before police arrived.

   Stanley Lesniewski reported damage to a fence on his property on Sept. 18 at 2:07 a.m. Patrol responded. The fence was damaged some time during the overnight hours. Estimated damage was set at $50. The fence was repositioned upright.

   On Sept. 18 at 10:07 a.m. county communications reported a squad call for a woman who had difficulty breathing. Patrol responded and took her to Somerset Medical Center.

   Douglas Stephens of 1131 Green St. came to police headquarters on Sept. 18 at 1:10 p.m. to report his bicycle was stolen from the foyer of Walmart. The bicycle was described as a green Huffy American mountain bike valued at $300. Sgt. Paul Meixner is investigating.

   On Sept. 18 at 6:24 p.m. county communications reported a motor vehicle crash hit and run at West Camplain and South 6th Ave. Patrol responded. The vehicle that fled was a white Chevy pickup truck with minimal passenger side damage. Surrounding towns were advised.

   Ryan Glutch reported on Sept. 18 at 8:14 p.m. having a verbal argument with Michael Tacak, 26, at his residence at North 13th Ave. All parties were advised of their right to sign complaints.

   Christian Valencia of East Frech Avenue reported a suspicious occupied parked vehicle, possible engaging in an illegal activity, on Sept. 19 at 1:27 a.m. Patrol responded and checked the area.

   A caller requested the squad for an elderly woman who was dizzy and could not get out of bed on Sept. 19 at 10:03 a.m. Police and the squad responded. She was taken to Somerset Medical Center.

   On Sept. 19 at 1:54 p.m. Kevin J. Courtney, 33, of Cedar Crest Road in Bound Brook, reported he had two active warrants out of Hillsborough: ATS for $889 and ACS for $551. They were processed and he was released on bail.

   Walmart customer service reported detaining Edward F. Deegan of 21 Reid St., South Bound Brook, for shoplifting on Sept. 19 at 2:32 p.m. Police responded. Walmart decided to handle the incident internally.

   On Sept. 19 at 3:18 p.m. a man arrived at headquarters to report an unknown individual had been using his XBOX live account which is linked to his Bank of America and Chase bank accounts. He advised no money was stolen. The XBOX live account has been disconnected. The complainant wished to document the incident as a matter of record.

   A caller reported on Sept. 19 at 3:53 p.m. that two windows had been broken on his Ford Explorer located at 1443 Dominic St. Patrol responded and reported that two rear passenger windows were broken with damages estimated at $300.

   A caller reported a loud party in a detached garage on South 5th Avenue on Sept. 20 at 12:15 a.m. Police responded and located two men in the garage of 154 South 5th Ave. The parties were advised to be quiet.

   County communications reported an abandoned 911 call at 815 West Camplain Road Apt. 4 on Sept. 20 at 8:59 a.m. Police made contact with Harry Bugal who advised it was an accident. Patrols responded and confirmed.

   On Sept. 20 at 1:33 p.m. a man came to police headquarters to report that he lost his Pennsylvania dealer plate while at Adesa one week ago. He wanted to document the incident as a matter of record.

   A person arrived at headquarters on Sept 20 at 1:55 p.m. to report an unknown male took his orange BMX bike from outside Walmart. No make, model or derail number were provided. Police checked the area but found nothing.

   On Sept. 20 at 2:02 p.m. the landlord of a building on North 6th Avenue reported he believed water was running in the building and he could not gain entry. Police escorted the landlord inside where he shut off water running in the bathroom of an unoccupied apartment.

   A caller reported that Hispanic men were stripping parts off of a white Honda Odyssey in Rich’s Tow Yard on Sept. 20 at 2:06 p.m. Police responded and reported that Federico E. Ramirez, 41, of 54D Somerset Court, Bound Brook, had his vehicle towed to Rich’s and was removing property from it. Rich was contacted and was satisfied. No further police action is being taken.

   On Sept. 20 at 3:26 p.m. police arrested William Fahey, 54, of 39 South Street Apt. 1 and he was charged with shoplifting at Walmart.

   On Sept. 20 at 7:11 p.m. Pat Bartling came to police headquarters to turn in a black woman’s wallet belonging to Ivana Oleksyn found outside of Manville Pizza. No further identification was available. Ms. Oleksyn came to police headquarters on Sept. 22 to report her wallet was lost.

   Patrolman Michael Peterson was flagged down on Sept. 21 at 1:59 a.m. about a fight at Brooks Boulevard and North 1st Avenue. He arrested Steven A. Shallis, 22, of 208 West Union Ave. in Bound Brook, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $5,000. Mr. Shallis was taken to Somerset County Jail in default of bail.

   On Sept. 21 at 10:52 a.m., Thomas Tolletsen, 59, of 34 South Main St. was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third degree during the execution of a search warrant. Also arrested was Courtney Limbach, 21, of 125 South 17th Ave., who was charged with possession of three hypodermic syringes. This was a joint investigation of the Manville Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

   Joe Kefusky reported a transformer might have blown on North 13th Avenue on Sept. 21 at 11:32 a.m. Police, fire, squad and the Department of Public Works responded. PSE&G was notified. Traffic was detoured on North 13th between North Street and Brooks Boulevard.

   On Sept 21 at 5:30 p.m., Devin Jones, of 60 W. Broom St., Somerville, was arrested and charged with shoplifting $131.43 in assorted merchandise from Walmart. He was released on $1,000 bail with 10 percent.

   On Sept. 22 at 6:17 a.m., county communications reported a motor vehicle fire on South 3rd Avenue. Police, fire and squad responded. The on-call detective, Craig Jeremiah, also responded. The investigation is continuing.

   Jose Arroyo of Quick Chek reported a customer having an issue with employees inside the store on Sept. 22 at 10:02 p.m. Police responded and reported Anthony M. Ciesla, 46, of 31 Fairview Ave., Somerville, was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.

   On Sunday at 1:01 p.m. Patrolman William Sampson found a wallet belonging to Robert Paster of 53 Doyle Lane in Belle Mead, in the Walmart parking lot. Mr. Paster was notified.

   Bridgewater Township police reported a fight in the middle of South 6th Ave and West Camplain on Sunday at 4:58 p.m. Police responded and requested the squad for a rib injury. The individual was taken to Somerset Medical Center. Clayton Horton, 39, of 26 South Main St. Room 5 was charged with disorderly conduct. He was processed and taken to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.

   On Monday at 7:21 a.m. a caller reported the smell of gas on Bound Brook Avenue. Police, fire and the squad were dispatched. The scene was turned over to the fire department.
