A now former night manager at the Princeton University Store on University Place allegedly was having “sexual acts” with a $250 prostitute inside the store at least three different times, Borough Police said Wednesday.
Authorities have alleged that Eric Everett, a store employee for nearly three years, and Brittany Smith also stole items from the store — with in-store surveillance recording a Sept.17 theft.
Mr. Everett, fired by the store on Sept.21, was arrested Monday at the store and charged with shoplifting and soliciting prostitution, police said.
Ms. Smith was arrested Tuesday on University Place around 10 p.m. and charged with prostitution, shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she had 11 tablets of the prescription drug Adderall and a marijuana pipe.
Both were released without bail, and are scheduled to be in Borough Municipal Court on Monday.
Mr. Everett, 23, of Chesterfield, allegedly met Ms. Smith, 20, of Keyport on the website Craigslist, police said. The two allegedly agreed to have “scheduled times” to have sex at the store at the $250 per encounter price that Ms. Smith, a student at Brookdale Community College set, police said.
Police Capt. Nicholas Sutter said Wednesday that authorities are aware of three encounters occurring between Mr. Everett and Ms. Smith during after-store hours, in an employee area. Authorities also are looking into other thefts, one which was captured on video, Capt. Sutter said.Jim Sykes, president of the store, said Wednesday that Mr. Everett was an employee for nearly three years. On Sept. 20, a potential theft was discovered and investigated, Mr. Sykes said.
”We became suspicious on the 20th,” Mr. Sykes said.
He had no comment on the prostitution allegations.
The store, which has locations on Nassau Street and University Place, is not affiliated with Princeton University.
