Princeton Township
Zachary Humbert, 26, of Belle Mead, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 206 near Ewing Street on Sept. 21 at 12:40 a.m. He also received summonses for reckless driving, speeding and failure to change address.
Kevin Kuchinski, 43, of Pennington, and Atul Sharma, 43, of West Windsor, were in a two-car, rear-end crash on Route 206 near the intersection of Mountain Avenue on Sept. 21 at 8:26 a.m. Mr. Kuchinski received a summons for careless driving.
Lori Ann Kraft of New Hope, Pa., and Answorth Thompson, 55, of Rockaway, were in a two-car, rear-end crash on the 600 block of Lawrenceville Road on Sept. 21 at 3:54 p.m. Ms. Kraft received a summons for careless driving.
A resident of Ewing Street reported a mountain bike worth approximately $350 was stolen from his garage sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 22.
Uma Bhimavarapu, 43, of Mercerville, and two juvenile passengers were in an accident when Ms. Bhimavarapu crashed into a utility pole on Route 206 just north of Hillside Avenue on Sept. 22 at 4:16 p.m. Police said Ms. Bhimavarapu left the roadway due to being distracted for an unknown reason. All three were taken to an area hospital and Ms. Bhimavarapu received a summons for careless driving.
A homeowner in the 100 block of Christopher Drive reported a power outage while a Verizon technician was installing a cable near the electric meter on the property on Sept. 21 at 11:13 a.m. Police said when the technician was drilling through an exterior wall, he struck the main electric service wire to the panel causing sparks near the panel box. There was no fire, but the fire department did find a damaged wire and a smoke condition. PSE&G also responded to cut power to the residence until repairs could be made.
Princeton Borough
David Rice, 29, of Kendall Park, was charged with making several false public alarms using the 911 system at various locations on Sept. 21. He was taken into custody on Nassau Street, charged and released.
Manuel Barrera, 22, of Trenton, was charged with criminal mischief after allegedly breaking three windows of the United States Post Office on Palmer Square by throwing a piece of cement on Sept. 15 at 1:57 a.m.
Jonathan Joyce, 41, of Princeton, was charged with simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly spit in a woman’s face, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into a wall causing minor injuries on North Tulane Street on Sept. 20 at 11:17 p.m. Police said after the arrest he called her, violating a temporary restraining order and was also charged with harassment and violation of a restraining order. He was held at $5,000 bail.
Plainsboro
A resident of Sayre Drive, 58, reported an attempted burglary on Sept. 24 at approximately 4:16 a.m. after the alleged burglar tried to enter through the bedroom window, realized the victim was awake and then fled the scene. Police said other residents had also observed the suspect in the area. Police searched the area for the suspect, but were unsuccessful. The case is being turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation.
Rutgers University reported that a communal computer monitor had been scratched with a sharp object at 500 College Road East sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sept. 21. Damage was estimated at $250.
Anthony J. Meglio Jr., 21, of Debary, Fla., was charged with driving while intoxicated in the parking lot of the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro on Sept. 23 at 5:13 a.m. He also received a summons for reckless driving.
Steven A. Rivera, 18, of Trenton, Chris Rodriguez, 20, of Princeton, and Cyrus Bellamy, 20, of Trenton, were all charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance on Route 1 near Scudders Mill Road on Sept. 22 at 1:11 a.m. Mr. Bellamy was also charged with possession of marijuana and Mr. Rodriguez was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, obstruction of justice and hindering apprehension after allegedly giving police false information regarding his identity to hinder his own apprehension on a $5,000 arrest warrant out of Trenton. Mr. Rivera was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after police found a baseball bat wedged between the driver’s seat and the car door and he received summonses for speeding, unlicensed driver and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
A 43-year-old man who lives on Hunters Glen Drive suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car on Sept. 24 at 10:50 p.m. Police said the car was traveling southbound on Hunters Glen Drive when it struck the pedestrian and then fled the scene. The Plainsboro Rescue Squad took the victim to a trauma center and the police are investigating the incident, analyzing evidence found at the scene and interviewing witnesses. Jesse S. Lurito, 25, of Birchrunville, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 1 on Sept. 27 at 3:24 a.m. He also received summonses for reckless driving, speeding and failure to exhibit registration.
Montgomery
Jose Lanza, 33, of Grandview, Wash., and Sunli Govada, 25, of Devon, Pa., were in an accident at the intersection of Route 206 and Route 601 on Sept. 7 at 8:58 p.m. Four passengers in Mr. Lanza’s car suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Ms. Govada received a summons for careless driving.
