Saturday, Oct. 6 — Volunteer Fire Co. No. 3 at 324 Woods Road will host its annual free open house from noon to 4 p.m. October is Fire Prevention Month in HillsBorough. The New Jersey Devils hockey team’s mascot will visit the firehouse from 1 to 2 p.m. There will be a “moon-walk” for the kids. In the “smoke house simulator,” people can learn the safe way to exit a home in a fire. Rescue squadmembers will test blood pressure. Fire and rescue squad trucks will be on display. Learn how to use fire extinguishers. Free cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones.

Wednesday, Oct. 24 — The Millstone Valley Columbiettes host second annual vendor fair at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 Yorktown Road. Vendors include Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, doTERRA Oils, Thirty-One Bags. No admission fee, but donations help the Columbiettes and charities they support, including Ronald McDonald House, U.S. troops, March of Dimes, breast cancer, Autism Foundation, ALS and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
