A single-family home at 204 Sutphin Lane was deemed uninhabitable following a fire at 2:42 p.m. Sept. 25.
The fire started in the kitchen, police said. Resident Keith Christian got out safely and no injuries were reported. The family was reported to be staying with relatives.
The cause of the fire was being investigated, but initially it didn’t appear to be suspicious, police said.
The Hillsborough Rescue Squad responded as did units from all three township fire companies, the fire safety bureau and construction office.
More than $2,300 worth of jewelry was reported stolen from a Mountain View Road residence sometime between Sept. 21 and 24. Hillsborough detectives are investigating.
A Mountainside construction company reported Sept. 22 that an estimated $625 worth of construction vehicle parts were stolen overnight from a Falcon Road site.
Barbara Gorski, 65, of Hillsborough was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after she was involved in a one-car accident at Amwell Road and Raider Boulevard. She was released after also being charged with careless driving. The matter is pending blood analysis, police said.
A Route 206 restaurant was burglarized overnight, it was reported Aug. 24, and $800 was taken, police said. Hillsborough detectives are investigating.
