The Ladies Auxiliary of North End Fire Company No. 3 is busy working on its upcoming basket bingo, which will raise money the ladies will donate to the fire company.
Members have been gathering at the firehouse to make baskets for the event on Friday, Oct. 19, at the firehouse on North 8th Avenue. The chairperson is Angie Wilczek.
Committee member Violet Hall said, “There will be 18 games of bingo with a raffle of a few larger baskets at the end, if people want to buy some tickets. They are handmade by one of the relatives of a member and they are called Pappy’s baskets. They are all handmade and stained.”
All of the baskets will be filled with theme-assorted items.
The chaos following Hurricane Irene interrupted a string of seven years of the event. Instead, the ladies held a free flea market and a spaghetti dinner for the benefit of flood victims.
Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. with the games beginning at 7. Tickets of $20 include admission and 18 game sheets, with four games to a sheet. Extra bingo sheets and bingo daubers will be available to buy. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted. You must be present to use your ticket and only one ticket per player is allowed. Free refreshments are included.
To buy tickets, you can call Ms. Wilczek at 908-526-6982. The ladies are also looking for donations of items, gift cards, and monetary donations for the baskets. Themed baskets will also be greatly appreciated. Call Ms. Wilczek if you would like to make a donation.
