MANVILLE: Ceremony to celebrate transition of library

Invitations have gone out for the Oct. 16 ceremony welcoming the Manville Public Library into the Somerset County Library System.
As of Sept. 1, the library has converted from a borough facility into one of the 12 branches of the county system.
The library has expanded its hours and promises more services over time to match the other facilities into the system.
The ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library at 100 S. 10th Ave.
Brian Auger, director of the county library system, will welcome the public and briefly describe future plans. Manville patrons can expect more programs and resources and a larger programming budget.
Mr. Auger has said there will be an increase in books, DVDs, CDs and periodicals, and more computers and work stations will be in next year’s budget.
Manville residents now can go to any of the 12 libraries in the county system and borrow materials. Books from other libraries can be delivered to Manville the next day, and patrons will be offered more programs.
Manville library hours have increased to Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The other libraries in the system are in Bridgewater, Bound Brook, Branchburg, Hillsborough, Rocky Hill, North Plainfield, Peapack-Gladstone, Somerville, Warren Township, Washington Valley, Reading Station, Martinsville and Watchung.
