MANVILLE: Seniors will hear about value of whole grains

Manville’s county-run Senior Citizen Center will be closed Monday, Oct. 8, for the holiday.
When it reopens Tuesday, participants can hear Daryl Minch of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service talk about “The Benefits of Whole Grains.”
The Manville center offers programs, food and activities on most weekdays at the center at Fire Company No. 1, 20 South Third Ave.
The Manville Recreation Department leads lightweight exercise on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15–10:45 a.m., and “walk and chair” exercise on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Bingo is played every Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. Birthdays are recognized on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
The center’s hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Its phone is 908-526-0175.
Meals need to be ordered a day in advance, before 10:30 a.m. The suggested donation is $1.50 for those 60 and older, and $5.35 for younger.
Manville is one of seven centers operated by Somerset County; it is accessible to individuals with disabilities. The center offers educational, recreational and entertaining activities for active adults age 60 and older, including wellness programs and health screenings.
