The New Jersey State Library has made available OneSource, a premier provider of in-depth information on over 6 million global companies and over 14 million global executives – allowing NJ businesses an opportunity to optimize sales and marketing efforts, as well as business-to-business research activities. OneSource, a ReferenceUSA add on, is now available at no additional cost to users, as part of a suite of statewide databases available through JerseyClicks, www.jerseyclicks.org, New Jersey’s portal for searching statewide full-text databases offered by the New Jersey State Library.
The business research tool contains information on companies in North America, United Kingdom, Europe, Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. It provides users with on-demand access to global news, as well as government, business and legal information. OneSource gives users the power to gather competitive intelligence, research company and executive details, analyze industries and financial information, and much more. Users can search for companies by name, geography or across industries.
Ka-Neng Au, librarian at Rutgers University’s library, has used the database extensively. “This is an invaluable tool for businesses,” he said. “Researchers can do everything from a SWOT analysis to comparing a company’s financials against industry norms, or getting a Freedonia report from U.S. industry sectors to getting a comprehensive global “family tree” of corporations around the world.”
Researchers will also find executive business biographies which include LinkedIn hyperlinks, a 10 year archive of business journal articles, and 15 years of financial information.
“The New Jersey State Library has been a leader in offering cutting-edge resources to our business community,” said Mary Chute, State Librarian. “As an entrepreneur, business executive or corporate researcher, you know success depends upon staying one step ahead of your competition and two steps ahead of the marketplace, especially in the current economic environment. We believe that by providing these resources we can provide the competitive advantage needed for businesses to thrive, and help our state’s economy grow.”
OneSource and all other business resources, including Frost & Sullivan and Small Business Resource Center, can also be accessed through the State Library’s business research portal, www.njgrowsbiz.org.
