HOPEWELL VALLEY: Alliance to laud volunteer, Oct. 12

Chris Fossel, of Hopewell Borough, has been named by the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance as the organization’s Volunteer of the Year.
He will be honored during the 16th annual Hopewell Valley Mayors’ Breakfast on Oct. 12 at Hopewell Valley Golf Club.
Each year the Municipal Alliance selects an individual who has made a significant contribution toward making the Hopewell Valley community healthy and safe for its youth in addition to enhancing the efforts of the organization.
Mr. Fossel was selected for this honor through his involvement with the annual Pennington 5K race. This is the largest annual fundraiser for the Municipal Alliance. Proceeds are being shared with the Hopewell Valley YMCA.
Over the last three years, Mr. Fossel has helped to raise over $10,000 for the Alliance through the proceeds of 5K race. He has done so by raising public awareness in the community for the Alliance, which has secured support and sponsorships for the race.
One of the key foundations of the Municipal Alliance is to build positive youth development through leadership. Mr. Fossel developed a Pennington 5K Student Leadership Team made up of Central High School students.
”We are so fortunate to have Chris. He has spent countless volunteer hours with our high school students preparing them to assist in all aspects of the race. He has provided these students with many leadership opportunities. We are grateful for his dedication to our youth, our mission and our community,” said Heidi Kahme, of the Municipal Alliance.
The community is invited to attend the 16th Mayors’ Breakfast to honor Mr. Fossel and the work of the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance.
The breakfast also will include guest speaker, Herb Klein, President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Mercer County.
