Over the last 10 years, Solebury School has been well represented at the New Hope/Lambertville AIDS Walk and this year was no different.
Most of the Solebury School team of 50 students, some faculty and parents did the 7-mile walk along the Delaware River towpath on Sept. 23, with enthusiasm and a sense of community.
Some helped with the school’s refreshment table and one student helped guide participants along the path. Each student received five hours of community service toward their graduation requirement.
This year, Solebury raised the second largest total of the groups that participated, $3,550. “We’ve been first most years, but I’m told that community service isn’t a competitive sport and I try to believe that,” said Scott Eckstein, Solebury School’s director of admissions and the school’s organizer of this event. “I hope the students, faculty, and parents are proud of the work they did today. They raised a lot of money for a wonderfully worthy organization.”
FACT Bucks County, which organizes the AIDS Walk, helps provide medical treatment, food, and other care for people who are HIV Positive. This year, the Walk raised over $60,000 to help them with their work.
