SOLEBURY: Police report suspected child-luring incident

By Ruth Luse, Managing Editor
SOLEBURY: Township police Chief Dominick P. Bellizzie shared the following information with township residents early this afternoon on the township’s website.
The message says: “At approximately 10 a.m. today (Oct. 08), an 11-year-old boy took his dog outside for a walk on a leash through the North Pointe development.
”The child said that while walking on the sidewalk along Kitchens Lane, a black van pulled up to the curb. The vehicle was occupied by two men — a driver and a passenger.
”The passenger window was down and the passenger said they were looking for their puppy, and if the child would help them, they would give the child some candy. The passenger spoke with a Hispanic accent.
”The child refused the offer and walked away from the vehicle, going immediately home. The van drove off and left the area.
”The child said both occupants of the vehicle were in their 20s. The driver had light skin and the passenger had medium skin. Both had dark hair over the ears. Both appeared to be workmen and wore dirty clothes.
”The child said he walks his dog often, but had not seen this vehicle in the area before.
”The van is described as clean, newer, black in color, no additional side windows. A few dents in passenger side, but no other unique markings or equipment,” police noted.
Police said “parents should instruct their children to immediately report contacts with strangers,” and teach them about “what they should do in the event of an encounter.”
Anyone with information about this incident and/or “any suspicious encounters of this nature,” are asked to contact the Solebury Township Police Department, 215-297-8201.
Police said that inquiries on this incident should be referred to Detective-Corporal Roy G. Ferrari 215-297-8201 x111 or [email protected].
