New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL) Announces 2012 Annual Fall Conference
Trenton, New Jersey n October 8, 2012 n The New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL), the professional organization for school librarians in the state of New Jersey, today announced its Annual Fall Conference, ‘Inspiration, Motivation, Participation!’ The conference will be held November 29 – December 1, 2012 at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey.
Attendees of this year’s conference can expect over 40 informative workshops and sessions, featuring notable keynotes on topics pertinent to school library media specialists. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to browse the Scholastic Book Fair, learn how to use games to incorporate core curriculum standards and interact with more than 40 registered exhibitors.
Highlights of the conference include the Opening General Session, which will feature a performance by artist Kate Campbell Stevenson, titled “Women: Back to the Future.” Additionally, Robert Sabuda, a best-selling children’s author, will be the featured speaker during the Author’s Banquet and will also lead a hands-on workshop on creating pop-ups.
“We have put together an exciting, informative program for this year’s conference and are confident that all attendees will gain valuable information and insight that they can bring back to their libraries,” stated Pam Gunter, Conference Chair and -President-Elect of NJASL. “We encourage school librarians across the state to attend, and to bring their school administrators and principals with them.”
Leadership Breakfast attendees will have the opportunity to meet with prominent leaders in the library and education professions, including Mary Chute, New Jersey State Librarian, Susan Ballard, new President of the American Association of School Librarians, Pat Tumulty, Executive Director of the New Jersey Library Association, Dr. Marcus Childress, incoming President of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, and Donna Haye, 2011 AASL Distinguished School Administrator.
