FoHVOS, Veridian host nature art show, reception

The Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space (FOHVOS) and Veridian Gallery, Pennington, are announcing the winners of their Nature Art Calendar contest celebrating the natural surroundings of Hopewell Valley on Oct. 12 at a reception for the opening of the show.
The opening reception will be at Veridian Gallery, 43 S. Main St., from 6-8 p.m. The show will remain open at Veridian through the end of November. The public is invited.
The contest attracted over 30 entries of art submissions in a variety of categories, pastel, oil, watercolor and photography. The winners were selected by three judges: Dana Koeppel, owner and director of Veridian Gallery; Nicole Yull, former member of the Trenton City Museum Board at Ellarslie and member of the William Trent House Board; and Rachel Mackow, a photographer, writer, and naturalist who resides on the Sourland Mountain ridge. She co-authors the blog, “The Shagbark Speaks,” and is a land steward for Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space.
The art contest is one of a series of events hosted by FoHVOS this year in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The winners of the contest will be featured in a 2013 calendar showcasing different perspectives of open space in the Valley.
