New Hope group slates ‘A Day in Philadelphia’ for Oct. 18

The New Hope Borough Park and Recreation Board’s third annual bus trip will sample a variety of entertainment venues in Philadelphia on Oct. 18.
The tour begins at the Staples Parking lot in New Hope at 8 a.m. where coffee, bagels and donuts will be served.
The first stop in Philadelphia is the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where visitors will receive guided tours of the original museum as well as the new Hamilton addition. A special treat will feature the first public exhibition of Frank Furness’ drawings for the Academy.
Then a luncheon will be served at Rembrandt’s Café in the Art Museum neighborhood.
Following the luncheon, the group will visit the newly renovated Rodin Museum for a guided tour of the refurbished grounds.
The Sugar House Casino will be the final stop of the day. The venue features gaming and entertainment. A magnificent view of the Ben Franklin Bridge can be seen from the dining area of the casino.
Non-gamblers can enjoy the live entertainment in the lounge with views of the Delaware River.
A wine and cheese reception on the bus will cap off the day.
Total cost of the bus trip including all museum admissions, luncheon and refreshments is $85. Call 215-862-0883 to order tickets.
All proceeds will benefit the New Hope Borough Park and Recreation Board’s efforts to beautify New Hope. The most recent project installed flower baskets on street lights around the borough.
