The Eno Terra restaurant in Kingston is open once again after a fire in the kitchen Sunday evacuated 45 employees and guests.
According to police, the fire was reported at 6:12 p.m. Sunday and about 35 firefighters from the Kingston and Kendall Park volunteer fire companies responded to the eatery at 4484 Route 27.
It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to dose the fire, according to officials.
”The fire was in a ventilation system above a wood burning stove. We were able to immediately get a ladder to the roof and used a ventilation pipe to get to the fire,” Kingston Fire Chief Lloyd Mathis said. “The quick response from the volunteer fire companies limited the damage.”
Police said that the employees and guests at the restaurant were evacuated without incident and no injuries were reported.
Chief Mathis estimated about 35firefighters responded to the call.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about two hours, according to police.
The restaurant has reopened after being inspected Monday and was operating normally as of Wednesday evening.
Eno Terra is one of three owned by the Terra Momo Restaurant Group including Mediterra on Hulfish Street and Teresacaffe on Palmer Square, both in Princeton, according to its website.
Owners Carlo and Raoul Momo credited the emergency responders with keeping the damage to the business minimal.
”Enormous credit goes to the firefighters for their quick response,” Carlo Momo said in a police press release Monday.
”We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who responded,” Raoul Momo said.
The Kingston First aid Squad joined the fire companies and police on the scene Sunday, police said.
