Every day, more than 19,000 children die from causes we rarely encounter, such as malnutrition, unsafe drinking water, or lack of an affordable vaccine. In a new initiative this Halloween, Bear Tavern Elementary School students and their families plan to partner with the Hopewell Valley Central High School’s Model World Health Organization (WHO) student club to curb this trend.
In our effort to improve children’s health worldwide, Model WHO will be distributing UNICEF Trick-or-Treat collection boxes to all interested Bear Tavern students and their families. In addition to or in place of typical Halloween treats, these students will be asking for small monetary donation in support of UNICEF as they go door to door.
UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization and is not daunted by war or conflict, disaster or disease, geography or logistical complexity. Together, Bear Tavern students and the Hopewell community can help UNICEF reach a day when the number of children dying from preventable causes is not 19,000, but ZERO.
This Halloween, please consider having a few coins ready for Bear Tavern Trick-or-Treaters who may ring your bell!
Thank you for your consideration, and have a very happy Halloween!
