Princeton-Mayoral candidates Liz Lempert and Richard Woodbridge sought to show a debate audience Thursday that they had the experience to lead the consolidated community.
The word experience cropped up during the 60-minute debate, as Mr. Woodbridge, the Republican, cited his background as a former township mayor and president of Borough Council. Ms. Lempert, the Democrat, said she had the "current experience" as a member of the Township Committee.
She said during her tenure, the township negotiated a $757,000 contribution from Princeton University. She also promised residents there would be no tax hike next year.
Mr. Woodbridge kept up his strong words for the school district about the lack of maintenance to Valley Road School, where the Princeton native attended. He said the rear of the building looks like a "crack house."
He is part of a group interested to take over the building as a center for nonprofits.
