Carolyn Dorfman, Founder and Artistic Director of the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company (www.cddc.info), is pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 season and the premier of a new, innovative work titled Interior Designs. Performances this season will also feature several of CDDC’s well-known works including Narcoleptic Lovers, Keystone, and The Legacy Project.
Interior Designs explores the juxtaposition of the internal worlds of both
performer and audience created by a performance. Using the entire theater as the stage, traditional expectations of the audience are interrupted as they find themselves driven to make viewing choices and are challenged on issues of personal and collective space and unique connections. Performers are strategically placed on the stage and throughout the theater, while action and sound emanate from all corners, surrounding and enveloping the audience.
“This year we celebrate 30 years of innovation in dance, and it’s only the beginning,” states Carolyn Dorfman, CDDC’s Founder and Artistic Director. “Our season includes performances throughout New Jersey and New York with teaching residencies in K-12 schools, universities, and master classes that connect us to existing partners and newly forged ones. It’s a fantastic marriage of the power of art and process and we are grateful to our supporters and sponsors without whom none of this would be possible. Come Celebrate 30 with us! I look forward to welcoming all to our performances and joining us as we celebrate this very special milestone.”
