   Basket bingo: The Ladies Auxiliary of Manville’s North End Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 event starts at 7 p.m. Doors open 5:45. Tickets $20. Call Angie at 908-526-6982.
   Basket auction: Parents and alumni for Hillsborough High Robotics Team 75 will hold a benefit at VFW, 600 Washington Ave. Doors open 6 p.m.; drawings begin 7:45 p.m. $12 per person includes a sheet of tickets. For information or tickets contact Irene at [email protected] or 908-369-4316.

   Vendor fair: The Millstone Valley Columbiettes host its second annual vendor fair at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 Yorktown Road, Hillsborough. No admission fee, but donations are welcome to help the Columbiettes and charities they support. 
Sat., Oct. 27
   Food collection: Non-perishable food and drink donations benefit Somerset County Food Pantry. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at American Legion post, 429 South Main St. Sponsors are Marine Corps League 1284, American Legion Post 304, Boy Scout Troop 193.
   Tricky tray: Benefit for The Giving Network, a local charity that accepts donated household goods and delivers to needy. 6:30 p.m., Manville VFW, 600 Washington Ave. $15 admission includes 24 prize tickets, refreshments. “Elite” tickets available.

   Food festival: Samplings from menus of area restaurants to benefit Manville First Aid & Rescue Squad. 5:30 p.m. VFW hall, 600 Washington Ave. Sponsored by squad’s auxiliary to replace and purchase equipment for the squad. $25 (limited tickets sold at door).    Cash for candy: Kids two to 12 can redeem unopened Halloween candy for $1 per pound (up to $5) at Manville Dental Group, 7 Washington Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. the day after Halloween. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

   Benefit for animals: People For Animals hosts a tricky tray at the Manville VFW, 100 Washington Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m.; drawings at 8. Tickets at $15 in advance and $20 at door includes tickets, hors d’oeuvres. Call 973-282-0890, ext. 311, or visit www.pfaonline.org. Event will benefit spay/neuter clinics and animal rescue program.

   One-woman play: Actress Regina R. Dasher presents the story of “Big Mary Septak,” a miner’s wife who fought against labor injustices during a coal miners’ strike in Pennsylvania in 1897, in a free program at the library, 100 10th Ave. 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Hosted by Raritan Valley Slavic Cultural & Heritage Society.    Tricky tray: Manville-Hillsborough BPOE 2119, 1500 Brooks Blvd. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Raffle begins at 7. $10 (includes one free sheet of tickets). No one under 18 admitted.
