STOCKTON — The scope of improvements to be made to Wilson Drive was discussed by the Stockton Borough Council Oct. 8 meeting, Clerk Michele Hovan said.
The matter came up due to the borough’s receipt of less money from the state Department of Transportation (DOT) than the amount for which the borough had applied.
”We’re in the process of adjusting the scope of work to be done on Wilson Drive,” Ms. Hovan said.
She said the borough applied for a $478,855 from the DOT for Wilson Drive, but received a grant for $165,000.
She said borough Engineer Dennis O’Neal is working on the project to “make it more affordable.”
Removal of some curbing from the project is one of the changes Mr. O’Neal might recommend, she said.
She added that the borough hopes to finish the design of the Wilson Drive project during the winter, so the work could be done in the spring.
THE BOROUGH fared very well on its 2011 audit, Ms. Hovan said.
”It was an excellent report in terms of how Stockton is managing its money,” she noted. “It demonstrates fiscal responsibility.”
The 2011 audit of Stockton was done by the firm of Suplee and Clooney. State law requires that all municipal governments be audited annually and that the audit be a public document, available for inspection at municipal headquarters.
In other business, Council tabled an adoption vote on a proposed land use amendment that adds bulk standards to firehouses in residential zones.
Ms. Hovan said the measure was tabled because council is awaiting a report from the borough Planning Board on the matter. She said an adoption vote on proposed measure is expected to be on the agenda of council’s November meeting.
