A Polish citizen was identified as the victim of a fatal automobile crash on Route 1 south in West Windsor on Sunday morning, authorities said.
Karol Lukasz Jablonski was believed to be driving a Jeep Wrangler that hit a utility pole between Alexander Road and Carnegie Center Boulevard around 7:04 a.m., authorities said. A witness told authorities of seeing the vehicle swerve off the road for an unknown reason, police said.
Mr. Jablonski and three other occupants all men in their 20s who survived the accident were ejected from the Jeep, said West Windsor police Lt. William Bastedo on Monday.
Mr. Jablonski, 26, died at the scene, Lt. Bastedo said. The three passengers, all between the ages of 23 and 26, were taken by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Campus in Trenton, where they were reported to be in stable condition as of Monday afternoon, he said.
Lt. Bastedo said two of the men are from Philadelphia while the third is from Trenton; their names have not been released. They have said they were asleep in the Jeep at the time of the crash, Lt. Bastedo said.
Mr. Jablonski, a resident of Mikolaja Kopernika in Poland, was in this country for about a month visiting family and friends, Lt. Bastedo said. He said authorities believe he was driving the Jeep, although they are not certain. His next of kin was notified.
West Windsor Police and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating, he said.
