A tip that someone was using a controlled dangerous substance inside a Scherer Court residence led to the arrest of five people, including a 59-year-old woman who owns the Lawrence Square Village condominium at 6:19 p.m. Oct. 18, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Gicela Gonzalez, 59, of Bunker Hill Road, who owns the condominium in the development off Quakerbridge Road, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and making the property available for under-aged consumption of alcohol, police said.
Two 17-year-old Lawrence boys, as well as 18-year-old Marquis Bradshaw of Kent Court and Shareef Griffin, 18, of Town Court South, were all charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The two juveniles also were charged with under-aged consumption of alcohol on private property, police said.
Police responded to the condominium after a caller reported that someone might be smoking drugs inside the unit. Officers smelled an odor of marijuana as they approached the residence and then knocked on the door, police said.
When one of the juveniles opened the door, the police officers observed a marijuana grinder on the coffee table and two marijuana plants growing in flower pots, according to reports. They also saw empty beer bottles and liquor bottles on the coffee table and in the kitchen.
