To the editor:
Since taking over as mayor in January, Mayor Angelo Corradino has Manville headed in the right direction.
He took over a failed flood commission led by Richard Onderko and brought it back to life. He set up a task force to clean up Main Street and take care of the problems on Camplain Road and Brooks Boulevard.
Finally, he is working in a bipartisan manner with Republican council members Sherri Lynn and Lou Petzinger to move forward the redevelopment of the Rustic Mall.
Electing Ron Skirkanish and Mark Gregor will ensure much more can be done to make Manville a better place to live.
Ron Skirkanish has lived in this town most of his life. He and his wife, Gale, own a home that was destroyed by two hurricanes, including last year’s Irene. He knows firsthand that we need to get the Flood Commission moving in the right direction, unlike his opponent, Rich Onderko, who just writes letters and complains while not doing anything to make improvements.
Ron is active in the community and serves on the Board of Health, Board of Adjustments, and is a C.E.R.T. member, and volunteers with local events.
Mark Gregor, a lifelong resident in Manville, also volunteers for local events and is a trustee for the VFW. He is dedicated to this town and will work with the mayor and Councilman Ed Komoroski to make Manville a better place to live.
I have lived in this town all my life and remember when Angelo took over as mayor in 1992. Like today, the economy was bad and taxes were on the rise and Manville was struggling with the loss of Johns-Manville. He, with other Democrats, turned the town around. I believe, 20 years later, he can do it again with the help of candidates Ron Skirkanish and Mark Gregor.
I strongly urge residents to vote for my brother, Ron Skirkanish, and longtime resident Mark Gregor. Together with Mayor Corradino and Councilman Komoroski, they will make Manville a better place to live.
