Manville is sponsoring a Trunk ‘R’ Treat alternative for Halloween from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, for residents in Manville High School’s parking lot.
Organizer Ed Komoroski said, “We are trying to give the kids a safe environment so they don’t have to walk on the dark roads. The high school has the solar panels, which are lighted.”
The event was canceled last year due to the effects of Hurricane Irene’s havoc on Manville.
Trunk ‘R’ Treating is a seen as a safe way for children to practice trick or treat. Participants bring their cars and park them in the lot with their trunks open and have candy or goodies to hand out. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated car.
Mr. Komoroski stressed that, in order for the event to be a success, they need participants.
“We need the kids to come trick or treating, and we need the vehicles decorated and displayed,” he said.
There will be hot dogs, chips and drinks ýPage=001 Column=001 OK,0000.08þ
— free of charge — and ghostly music will be provided by a DJ. Donations for prizes are being sought from local businesses.
Mr. Komoroski is hoping to attract as many as the 150 trunk or treaters who participated two years ago.
