CHAPTER A
The Rocking Horse Ranch — with its Silverado Saloon and Long Horn Dining Room — provided fun for everyone Oct. 17-19.
Some of our members went horseback riding, some went on the horse-drawn wagon ride and others practiced at the rifle range. The Fall Fest in the Harvest Tent featured wine from local wineries. Line dancing and an “illusionist” were evening entertainment.
”Medicare Maze” is the topic for our speaker at our Nov. 1 meeting. The Dollar Store will be open that day.
Nominations for the 2013 term Executive Board positions — president (new), vice president (new), treasurer (new), financial secretary, corresponding secretary and recording secretary — will be accepted again at the November meeting. Candidates will have the opportunity to present their qualifications at this meeting. Elections will be held at the December meeting, with installations in January.
Meetings start at 12:30 with doors open at 11:30, allowing time to review upcoming events. Refreshments are served after the meeting.
Members may at any time contribute kitchen supplies — coffee, decaf, napkins, plastic sandwich bags, etc. All Hillsborough seniors are invited and may join our club at any meeting. Dues are $5 a year.
Executive Board meetings are the fourth Wednesday of every month. Our president is Dick Meier, 908-359-6948.

Monday, Dec. 31: New Year’s Eve at noon, if tickets remain. Held at the Brownstone in northern New Jersey and will feature a band and comedian; two free drinks and a complete lunch (soup, salad, roast beef, roast turkey, stuffing, rolls and special dessert.) Soda and beer will be available at each table — all for $67. You will be home in plenty of time to welcome in the new year with family.
Spaces are still available. This will be your last opportunity to purchase ticket. No tickets for any event will be sold in December.
April 6-8, 2013 — Trip to Washington, D.C., includes Smithsonian; full-day guided tour that includes Capitol, White House, Embassy Row and National Archives; drive through Georgetown; World War II Memorial, and Kennedy graves. Breakfasts and dinners included.
Cost is $279 per person for double occupancy. You can make a deposit of half the amount in November and the balance in January. This is a great time to visit Washington. Hopefully the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom.
Note: Our trip committee has met several times to prepare for our trips for 2013 and they hope to have it completed so that you can obtain a list at our November meeting. All of your suggestions have been reviewed and tallied and I am sure you will be excited about the choices they have made on your behalf.
