• Rudolph Nowak of Driscoll Street asks for an officer to intervene in a dispute with a neighbor over a bird feeder at 4 p.m. Oct. 15. Patrols ask for the fire inspector to respond, then determined it was neither a police nor fire matter. Mr. Nowak and neighbor Jackie Frye were referred to the county Board of Health.
At 5:18 p.m. Ms. Frye told police she had been verbally abused by Mr. Nowak earlier in the day. She was advised of her rights.
• Responding to a call at 8:53 p.m. Oct. 15, police said they found damage, estimated at $100, to a front screen door on Knopf Street. Police said another house on the street had similar damage and they thought it was kids playing.
• John Horvat of Quick Chek on Brooks Boulevard reported finding a wallet on the property at 11:13 p.m. Oct. 15. Patrols contacted the owner, who lives in Stewartsville.’
• Police said a West Camplain Road house was broken into and an 11-week-old pitbull dog taken from the residence minutes before midnight on Oct. 15-16. County communications reported an anonymous caller hearing a loud bang and seeing the door to an apartment was broken with no one around. A man called police at 7:21 p.m. Oct. 17 to say the dog had been returned home. An investigation continues.
• At 9 a.m. Oct. 17 a Dominic Street woman said over the last couple of weeks, someone had been leaving three stones in front of her work and home. The woman identified two people she thought were responsible, and police spoke to the people at about 2 p.m. They said they did it as a prank, with no harm intended.
• At 1:09 p.m. Oct. 17 a West Camplain Road caller reported the theft of a package left by Fed Ex on Oct. 11. She told police the package contained an iPad valued at $399, but she had no serial number. An investigation was begun.
• A silver 1997 Honda Civic was reported taken from the front parking lot of Adesa Auto Auction between Oct. 15 and 7 a.m. Oct. 17. Bridgewater police reported recovering the vehicle at 6:22 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.
• A caller at 2:25 p.m. Oct. 17 asked for a wellbeing check on an 8-month-old puppy she placed in a home on North 9th Avenue. Police located the home and person and said all was OK.
• Firefighters were called to put out a smoky pile of burning leaves, started by a resident, on Newark Avenue at 5 p.m. Oct. 17. They were also called at 12:39 p.m. Saturday to Duke’s Parkway to put out another burning pile.
• A Camplain Road, Hillsborough, woman came to headquarters at 4:12 p.m. Oct. 17 to report that her wallet was taken out of her purse while at a South Street laundry center between 7 and 9 p.m. the previous night. She said 10 credit cards, one medical card and her driver’s license were in the wallet. Police started an investigation.
• A caller at headquarters at 8:26 p.m. Oct. 17 said he had been struck by a vehicle while walking on Roosevelt/South Main Street more than a month ago. He gave police a license tag number. Police said they’d investigate.
• A caller at 2:09 a.m. Friday said that an unoccupied vehicle was on the train tracks at the North 13th Avenue crossing. Norfolk Southern was contacted and stopped all trains. A towing company was called to remove the vehicle, and Norfolk Southern was advised to resume operations.
• Responding to a call about a possible fight on South Main Street at 1:35 p.m. Friday, police took Peter Hogan, 41, of Manville into custody for two pending criminal warrants totaling more than $1,000. En route to county jail in lieu of bail an hour later, he made threats to injure himself, police said, and asked to go for mental help.
• Numerous callers alerted police to a one-car rollover on South Main Street and Wilhousky Street minutes before 5 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
• Bridgewater police reported two individuals having an issue in a Brooks Boulevard parking lot at 7:14 p.m. Oct. 19. Police responded and said both parties accused each other of purposely opening doors to ding the other car. They were advised of their rights to sign complaints.
• At about 10 a.m. Saturday Oct. 20 a South 7th Avenue woman reported that the tailgate of her pickup truck was taken off sometime overnight. It was valued at $700.
• A Piscataway man came into headquarters at 11:24 a.m. Saturday with a wallet found on South Main Street. The owner was Hillsborough woman, who was notified.
• At 1:09 p.m. Saturday, Roe Industries on Manville Avenue reported the theft of brass fittings. Police said about $3,000 in assorted sizes of commercial-grade fittings were removed the building in the past month.
