INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN ARTIST, DAVID JOHN RUSH, TO EXHIBIT AT THE MAYO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
The Starlight Gallery at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown, N. J., will be presenting a new exhibit featuring internationally known artist David John Rush.
Mr. Rush, a Sussex County resident, well-known for his unique style of painting in watercolors and oils explained, “Nuances jump out at me,” explained Mr. Rush. What surrounds me is never lost and I feel fortunate to be able to capture it all on my canvas.” Mr. Rush’s work is a true reflection of his passion and perception of the world around him. Once quoted by William Sturm, former director of the Morristown Atrium Art Gallery: “Mr. Rush is New Jersey’s best kept secret.” The secret is out, however, and his work will be showcased at the Starlight Gallery from November 1, 2012 to January 2, 2013. An artist’s reception will take place on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 3-5 and is free and open to the public.
David Rush graduated from The Famous Artists School in Westport, Connecticut with a BFA from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art. He is a New Jersey certified teacher and instructed for many years at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and as head of the Graphics Design Department and co-chair of the Fine Art Department at Sussex County Community College. He also taught at Montclair State University, Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Design in Dover and at William Paterson University. Mr. Rush has painted in Maine, Paris and parts of Europe as well as at home in New Jersey. His work has been exhibited world-wide including, The Bayer AG Headquarters in Berlin, Germany, The New Jersey State Museum, the Philadelphia Museum and Waterloo Village in Stanhope, N. J. Some of Mr. Rush’s recent exhibits were at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Edison, The Louise Child’s Library in Stanhope and The Atrium Art Gallery at the Performing Arts Center at the Sussex County Community College. Many more exhibits are scheduled for 2013. He was also selected as Artist of the Month by jerseyarts.com for July 2012 and has had articles and paintings published by njskylands.com, Skylands Visitor Magazine and on the cover of the debut issue of the new online magazine entitled newjerseyliving magazine due out in December. The Starlight Gallery is open “by request” during any performance, by appointment or by request at the box office if you are passing by.
