Police have arrested two people in the last month they believe are connected to several unrelated burglaries in the township.
Police arrested Robert Martin, 20, of Monmouth Junction at 11 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the vicinity of North Umberland Way, according to police.
Police said that Mr. Martin is a suspect in a series of burglaries, and was stopped by a team of officers on Route 1. He was charged with two residential burglaries, according to police.
Police also charged Jessica Detore, 26, on Oct. 10 as she allegedly left a home she was trying to break into on Stillwell Road, according to police.
Police said Ms. Detore was spotted by Patrolman Robert Jardullo as he was responding to a suspicious activity call.
According to police, Ms. Detore knocked on the door of a residence several times and then went to the rear of the home and allegedly tried to break in before being confronted by a resident of the home.
Ms. Detore allegedly told the resident she was looking for a friend and left the scene, police said.
An investigation by Detective Ken Hermann, however, was able to link Ms. Detore to three burglaries in the Brunswick Acres section of Kendall Park, according to police.
Police estimate some $5,000 of electronics, jewelry and other items were stolen in the burglaries during recent weeks and they anticipate more arrests.
Both suspects were lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in default of bail.
