The Little Red Sticker That Could – Teenage Auto Crash Rates Drop 9 Percent

By Karen Bolmer
KBee’s Driving School would like to remind parents and teenagers about Kyleigh’s Law, which requires teenagers with Graduated License to place red stickers on the front and back license plates of any vehicle they operate.
According to a study by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, crash rates among teens have decreased by 9 percent since Kyleigh’s Law became effective in May 2010.  And, the rate of crashes after midnight fell by 13 percent and multiple-vehicle crashes dropped by 8 percent.
In their study, Children’s researchers reviewed the rate of police-reported crashes for teen drivers and noted the kind of license involved in each case. They compared monthly crash rates for about two years before the law went live on May 1, 2010, to the 13 months afterward.
Parents and Teens can obtain red stickers at the NJ MVC, and refer to information about the red sticker and other laws related to the Graduated Licenses here:  http://njdrivereducation.com/gdl#Question2
Or, email/call KBee’s Driving School in Ringoes at [email protected] / 908-799-8523 for red stickers or more information.
Education and training is crucial to improving young driver competencies. Our aim with KBee’s Driving School is to leave a lasting impression on teens who may not understand the risks associated with driving. Inexperience is the leading cause of crashes in young drivers, and there are many programs available to Parents and Teens that can deliver the skill sets that can make them safer drivers.
