Staff Report
HIGHTSTOWN — According to Michael Theokas, borough business administrator, there is an Emergency Reception Center set up at Hightstown High School.
Emergency transportation is available if needed for those you cannot travel, he said. The First Presbyterian Church on North Main Street and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Maxwell Avenue are also available for emergency evacuations.
”As of now, we don’t have any power outages that I know of and local roads are open,” Mr. Theokas said this afternoon. “However, the State of Emergency is in effect and residents are encouraged to stay at home and safely indoors.”
Hurricane Sandy is expected to create coastal hurricane winds and heavy Appalachian snows within hours, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
