HILLSBOUGH: School assistant superintendent Scott Rocco is leaving

He’ll take top job in Spotswood Township district

Scott Rocco, who has worked in Hillsborough Township schools for 18 years, will leave at the end of the calendar year to take the top job in the Spotswood Township school district.
Mr. Rocco began as a teacher in Hillsborough, was appointed a building principal and is now one of two assistant superintendents. He is in charge of instructional and support staffing, developing school strategic plan and in building school budgets.
“Thanks to his commitment to our students and staff, the district is a better place than when he entered,” said Superintendent Jorden Schiff in a statement. “We wish him well as Spotswood’s new superintendent of schools.”
Mr. Rocco, who will replace interim superintendent Anthony Vaz, is working on his doctoral degree. Mr. Rocco lives in Mercerville with his wife, Tracy, and three children, ages 11, 9 and 5.
Mr. Rocco began in Hillsborough teaching basic skills in middle school and then social studies at the high school. He moved into administration as a middle school vice principal and was eventually named principal of the one of the district’s five kindergarten to grade four buildings.
