EAST WINDSOR: Firefighters quell barn blaze

By Jen Samuel, Managing Editor
EAST WINDSOR – Friday night, firefighters saved two pets when a family’s barn burned down on Windsor Perrineville Road.
"Deputy 46 Eric Coran was first on location who reported a fully involved barn (fire)," said Chief Barry Rashkin of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2. "At that time he had CTY central strike out the second alarm box."
The township’s two rescue squads were on location, the chief said, adding that the second alarm fire brought local crews from 40, 41, 42, 43 stations as well as Middlesex companies 48, 49, 57 and Monmouth station 82.
Mercer CTY fire coordinators were also present, Chief Rashkin said.
"This area of the township does not have fire hydrants so there were also water tankers required," Chief Rashkin said Nov. 3. "There were no injuries but unfortunately the barn was a total loss."
Information on this incident was unavailable from the East Windsor Poice Department as of press time.
