Ninety percent of power out

Lt. Stephen J. Bartzak, commanding officer, West Amwell Township Police Department, reported early this afternoon that:
About 1,800 township residents are out of power. Route 518 ( Brunswick Pike), Mill, Lakeview, Rock Road West and Alexauken Creek roads are closed along with Old Route 518 East and West.
Roads are closed due to large trees falling and pulling down wires (electric, phone and cable). No reports of flooding; three reports of trees that fell onto residences (none significant).
No injuries were reported to police relating to the storm. Jersey Central Power and Light are advising as of today that power will still not be restored for several days. Ninety percent. of the township. is out of power.
Schools (South Hunterdon, West Amwell and the ESC School have been closed the entire week.
A showering facility has been set up at South Hunterdon high school from noon-8 pm. Rsidents can shower, charge up hand-held devices. Bottled water and ice are being distributed at the high school also.
Water for utilities/sanitary purposes has been provided at the West Amwell Fire
Company, as requested. Residents who provide containers are being filled up (fire company on generator power).
West Amwell Fire/Rescue and Lambertville Rescue have been staffed 24 hours for a five-day period
before, during and after the storm.
A shelter has been set up at the Hunterdon County Complex on Highway 12 in Raritan Township for anyone who wished shelter. Police have been assisting residents with setting up or providing transportation to that facility.
