From Monroe Office of Emergency Management and Monroe Clerks Office: Sunday evening
District schools closed Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday is Election Day and polling places will be open in Monroe Township. Two minor changes will be in effect:
1. If you normally vote at Oak Tree School, you will vote at the Firehouse on the corner of Applegarth Road and Halsey Reed Road.
2. If you normally vote at the Library, you will vote at the Municipal Building.
Middlesex County has advised Monroe Township that in anticipation of declining temperatures this evening, they are opening two additional regional shelters.
The gymnasium at Rutgers Livingston will be a general shelter and the gymnasium at Middlesex County College will serve as a shelter for people that have special medical needs.
The dpw is working 12 hour shifts, as we do in a snowstorm.
Come on people this is a natural disaster.
If you want to help, we have a 24-hour comfort station and medical shelter at the municipal building.
The mayor is home recovering from back surgery and is in constant communication and has even attended 2 OEM meetings.
Please let’s try to keep this in perspective and help each other.
We are also frustrated with JCPL’s lack of progress and putting much pressure on them.
We are still on emergency generator at police, ems and municipal building and without internet and email.
Please help your neighbors.
Thanks.
