Bordentown Railroad Days Train Displays on Nov 10 and 11.
Bordentown Railroad Days train displays and guided tours will go on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. Bordentown City will celebrate the 181st anniversary of the start of New Jersey’s first steam railroad with a weekend of activities organized by Bordentown Heritage, a local non-profit organization.
Model trains will be running and open to the public on Saturday, November 10 from 10 am to 4 pm at Christ Church, 130 Prince Street, and First Presbyterian Church, 420 Farnsworth Avenue. Trains will also be running and open to the public on Sunday, November 11 from 12 noon to 4 pm at the same locations. Admission is FREE, donations will be accepted.
Young engineers, kids and families will have something new this year. They will be able to play with "Thomas and Friends" trains and make railroad arts and crafts projects Saturday and Sunday at Christ Church. There is a fee for art project supplies.
Michael Skelly, Executive Director of Bordentown Heritage, said “Bordentown Railroad Days will be a welcome chance to enjoy trains and local history with our families and friends. We can briefly turn our attention away from Hurricane Sandy’s effects."
Guided tours of historic railroad sites and monuments will start 2 pm Saturday, November 10, and 2 pm Sunday, November 11at a tent in the Bordentown RiverLine Station Parking lot at at the end of West Park Street.
Bordentown City Downtown Business Association restaurants, shops and galleries will be open for dining and shopping.
Bordentown Railroad Days are organized by local non-profit, Bordentown Heritage. Model train displays are presented by New Jersey Southern NTRAK (NJS), and Southeastern Pennsylvania Garden Railway Society (SEPGRS). Displays are hosted by Christ Church Bordentown and First Presbyterian Church Bordentown.
