Cranbury, New Jersey n November 5, 2012 – Main Tape Company, a manufacturer of protective film products for use in the metals, graphics and construction industries has, for the first time in their history, surpassed one year without a lost-time injury.
Located in Cranbury, New Jersey, Main Tape employs over 100 people and has sales in 40 countries. Founded in 1987 as subsidiary of Main Steel, Main Tape separated into an independent entity in 2002.
Beginning in 2011, Main Tape embarked on a lean initiative to improve employee safety, product quality and overall productivity. With the goal of keeping the company competitive and manufacturing in America, the most evident result of this initiative is the recent achievement of reaching an entire year without a single lost-time injury.
“I am amply pleased with the progress Main Tape has made this year,” said Karen Olson, Main Tape’s President and CEO. “It took a concerted effort from each and every employee to reach this goal, and I am proud of their commitment. Due to these new milestones being achieved, as well as this year’s growth and rebranding efforts, I am feeling tremendously excited about the future of Main Tape Company.”
This goal was achieved through efforts exerted by all who work for Main Tape. The teams successfully implemented a variety of adjustments that contributed to this success including: 5S implementation, organization of a safety committee, holding a monthly communications meeting that includes a safety training, daily cycle walks to detect safety issues and the upgrading of several items, both large and small, within the Main Tape facility.
To see this through, many Main Tape employees worked overtime, including many weekends.
Continuing this focus on safety through the daily leadership of the management team, the oversight of the Safety Committee and the dedication of each employee, Main Tape believes this to be the beginning of a continually safe work environment. All at Main Tape are looking forward to a similar announcement next year, pleased that initiatives are resulting in such evident workplace improvements.
