MANVILLE: Democrats win and knot council, 3-3

    Democrats captured two Borough Council seats Tuesday to knot control of Manville’s Borough Council next year.
    Mark Gregor and Ron Skirkanisch, with 1,622 and 1,606 votes, led the four-way race, defeating Republican incumbent Richard Onderko (1,510 votes) and Susan Horensky-Star (1,379).
    They will be sworn to three-year terms at the beginning of 2013.
    Gregor and Skirkanisch will join Democrat Ed Komoroski on council. Susan Asher, Lou Petzinger and Richard Szabo are Republican members.
    The mayor, who casts tie-breaking votes, is Democrat Angelo Corradino.
    President Obama edged former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 1,384-1,329, in voting at the polls on Election Day in the borough. Likewise, Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat, edged state Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, a Republican, by 1,303-1,225 in the borough.
    Assemblywoman Donna Simon, a Republican, led Democrat Marie Corfield, 1,340-1,113, in the borough in machine tallies. Similarly, Rep. Rush Holt, a Democrat running in Manville for the first time following redistricting, led GOP challenger Eric Beck, 1,298-1,154.
