Manville Area Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 6573 presented the Association of Retarded Citizens in Manville with a $921.50 donation Friday afternoon.
Members Andy Hando and Tony Scarpantonio and Grand Knight Robert Neuman presented a check to Lauren Panarella, the executive director.
The donation was raised from collections at Sacred Heart, Christ the King and St. Mary’s churches in town, according to Mr. Hando. It was a nationwide fundraiser and every council does for their local ARC and they present one check to their local ARC.
Mr. Hando was proud to show one of the things that the Knights of Columbus do.
“The Manville Knights of Columbus 6573 would like to thank the parishioners of Christ the King Church, Sacred Heart Church and St. Mary’s Church for their donations to our recent ‘can’ drive. It is through their generous contributions that we are proud to support the Somerset Arc with this check to enable them with helping those who need the most help.”
Ms. Panarella was grateful for the gift.
“The donation is just a demonstration of how the community supports our work. We are actually celebrating our 40th year of service in the community and we hope that the Knights of Columbus will be with us for the next 40 years,” she said.
