Republicans Stephen Alexander and Bob Faber easily defeated their Democratic challengers Tuesday night to win re-election to new three-year terms on the Upper Freehold Township Committee.
Unofficial vote tallies showed Mr. Alexander with 2,098; Mr. Faber with 2,035; Florence Foley with 980 and Robert Goldman with 918.
Mr. Alexander, an attorney and Iraq War veteran, was re-elected to his fourth term on the Township Committee. Mr. Alexander has been a member of the municipal governing body since 2003. He was chosen by his colleagues on the committee to serve as mayor in 2008-2009 and is currently the deputy mayor.
Mr. Faber, a farmer and lifelong Upper Freehold resident, was elected to his third term on the Township Committee, which he has served on since 2007.
The Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education also had uncontested elections for four school board seats on Tuesday. Howard Kreiger, Richard Smith and newcomer Peter Katz were all elected to full three-year terms. Mr. Katz will be replacing Lisa Herzer, the current UFRSD Board of Education president, who decided not to seek another term.
No one filed to run for the fourth open seat on the UFRSD board, a one-year unexpired term, but write-in candidate Tia McLaughlin collected 139 votes.
All candidates in the UFRSD races were Upper Freehold residents. None of the UFRSD’s Allentown seats were on the ballot this year.
Voters in Allentown re-elected two incumbent Borough Council members, who both ran unopposed. Republicans Dan Wimer collected 560 votes and Margaret Rose received 556 votes to win re-election to the all-GOP council.
In Plumsted Township, Republican incumbents Jack Trotta and Eric Sorchik were the top-vote-getters in a three-way contest for two full-term seats on the Township Committee. The unofficial vote tally was Mr. Trotta, 2,429; Mr. Sorchik, 2,281; and Democrat Mitch Geier, 981.
There was also an uncontested race for a one-year unexpired term on the Plumsted Township Committee. Republican Committeeman Herb Marinari collected 2,657 votes to win the seat.
All Plumsted Board of Education members on the ballot were re-elected in uncontested races. The tally for three open seats, all for full three-year terms, was Jon Hague, 1,983; Christopher Probasco, 2,054; and Barbara Wig, 1,965. There was also a seat with a one-year unexpired term on the ballot, which was won by incumbent Leslie Septor, who ran unopposed and collected 1,990 votes.
In Millstone, Republicans Nancy Grbelja received 3,272 votes and Gary Dorfman collected 3,203 in their uncontested races for re-election to the Millstone Township Committee.
The Millstone Board of Education races for three full-term seats were also uncontested. Patrick Whalen collected 2,402 votes; Amy Jacobon earned 2,341 votes; and Neil Schloss earned 2,205 votes.
Mr. Schloss will be replacing Board of Education President Kevin McGovern, who decided not to seek another term.
