The Chesterfield Township Historical Society will hold a Colonial Cooking Demonstration and Mince Meat Sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.17, at the Chesterfield Township Historical Society headquarters at 2 Front Street, Crosswicks.
Open hearth cook Mercy Ingraham will demonstrate authentic Colonial cooking methods with a focus on preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and preserving food for the winter.
The Chesterfield Township Historical Society’s holiday Mincemeat Pie Sale uses a mincemeat recipe based on the traditional Brick’s Mincemeat, which was created and manufactured in historic Crosswicks Village for decades.
An exhibit on the history of Brick’s Mincemeat will also be display. Pies must be per-ordered and picked up at the Historical Society’s headquarters, on Saturday between 1 and 4 p.m. at 2 Front Street, Crosswicks. Pies are available in the following sizes: one dozen muffin-sized pies-$25; a 5½-inch tart-sized pie-$15; an 8-inch regular-sized pie-$28. Boy Scout Troop 55 of Crosswicks is Scouting for Food for the needy in Burlington County. Residents of Crosswicks, Chesterfield, Sykesville and the surrounding areas are asked to help the Scouts.
The need is greater than ever. Please make their search easier this weekend by leaving donations of canned goods, bottled goods (glass or plastic), powdered goods and baby formula out on your porch, mailbox or front door on Saturday morning at 8 a.m., Nov. 17, in the bags provided. The Scouts will collect door to door from 8 a.m. until noon.
Donations can also be left off at the Crosswicks Community House on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. All these donations will be delivered by Troop 55 to food pantries in our community.
Troop 55 of the Burlington County Council, Boy Scouts of America meets every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Crosswicks Community House. They provide a program that helps develop boys into honorable men through character development, citizenship training, mental and physical fitness. The mission of the Boy Scouts is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

The Crosswicks Friends Meeting Craft Night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, November 20 at the First Day School, located on the grounds of the Meeting House in Crosswicks.
This free event is an opportunity to come together to share conversation and fellowship while working on one’s own craft projects (i.e. sewing, quilting, spinning, scrapbooking, etc.). The Board of Fire Commissioners District No. 1 Chesterfield will meet at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Crosswicks Firehouse.
On Saturday evening, the Northern Burlington County Regional High School Marching Unit received 7th place in a field of 20 of the best marching units from the state of New Jersey in Group 3-A finals at Washington Township High School.
Performing in its last and most important competition of the season, Northern Burlington was very impressive in its presentation. This year’s show is entitled “The Journey” with musical selections from Cirque du Soleil.
The marching unit is under the direction of Shaun Lindner, and the color guard adviser/designer is Renae Borgstrom. Drum majors are Debra Smith and Kelsey Morrow and color guard captain is Cassie Damsgaard.
The Northern Burlington County Regional High School Band Booster Association will hold its annual crafts show Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Jacobstown firehouse at 86 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road, Route 528.
The show will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with refreshments available for sale.

The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is participating in a recycling program for inkjet cartridges and cell phones.
These items will be recycled into usable products.
The commission receives credits for each cartridge and cell phone. The commission will use the credits towards reforestation, protection of natural resources and ecological education for residents.
Collection boxes are at the Crosswicks Library and the Chesterfield Township municipal office.

The Crosswicks Community Association, under the leadership and guidance of Russell Caldwell, is assembling, cataloging and preserving historical records.
Mr. Caldwell has reviewed the current collection and determined its records are scant from the World War II years and from the 1950s through 1990s.
The association is asking community members involved in the organization during these times to donate records, including minutes, receipts, programs and so forth.
