HILLSBOROUGH: Schools hold celebrations for veterans and families

Triangle, Sunnymead and Woodfern elementary schools held Veterans Day celebrations on Monday.
At Triangle, students hosted a reception and sang for the veterans, many of whom are friends and family of students and staff.
Sunnymead students invited family and friends who are serving or who have served. There was a parade of the veterans through the school with the students waving signs and flags, followed by breakfast for the veterans and their families.
Students at Woodfern were called to attention as retired Hillsborough High School teacher Barbara-Jo ýPage=003 Column=001 OK,0000.00þ
Kruczek, played revelry on her bugle. She also played “Taps” as the audience stood for a silent tribute.
Brothers Noah and Adam Movshin skyped their dad, Major Robert Movshin, who is stationed in Afghanistan, for a video chat. He talked to the audience about his experience as a soldier and how important it is to support our troops and veterans.
A teacher, MaryAnn Zwirko, spoke briefly of the devastation suffered by her community by the shore in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and applauded the help of the National Guard, which pitched in and performed essential services.
