MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of Nov. 5-11

   A representative of Community Hope came to headquarters at about 11 a.m. Nov. 5 to report that a client at the assisted care house on Huff Avenue was missing from a rehabilitation center in Paterson. The item was entered into the national crime computer. The allegedly missing woman came to headquarters at 6:12 p.m. to say she was returning to the residence.
   • Members of the Democratic Club reported possible misuse of Democratic Club funds at 2:40 p.m. Nov. 5. The case was in the early stages, said Lt. John Crater, and he was waiting for documents. He said it was likely the county prosecutor’s office would be informed, too, he said.
   • An Adesa Auto Auction employee reported at 5 p.m. Nov. 5 that company security had found a loaded semi-automatic pistol magazine in a vehicle on the property on North Main Street.
   • Minutes after midnight into Nov. 6, a Garry Street caller said there was a woman outside his home who needed assistance. Patrols found a woman, described as extremely intoxicated, who said her cell phone and house keys had been taken. Police were unable to see details of any theft.
   • At 11:15 a.m. Nov. 6 Audrey Press of the Manville school district notified police about an 8-year-old student with alleged burn marks from a lighter on his stomach. The Division of Youth and Family Services was notified and will look into the matter.
   • Hakim Bankston, 36, of North Plainfield was charged at 12:57 p.m. Nov. 6 with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and three counts of simple assault on South Main Street. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail. Sgt. Paul Meixner and Patrolman Ryan Steier reported being injured on the call.
   • At 4 p.m. Nov. 6 landlord John Grzeszkowicz reported a possible burglary from an apartment building on South 3rd Avenue. Patrols and Detective Sgt. Ron Gazaway reported a burglary and theft of a watch valued at $1,500 and $1,100 in cash. An investigation is continuing.
   • On Nov. 7 Vice Principal Stephen Venuto of Manville High School asked police to check on a 17-year-old who had been out of school for 10 days. Police said the landlord reported the family moved out.
   • A caller alerted police to mail piling up at a North 18th Avenue address at 2:26 p.m. Nov. 7. Police found a deceased 63-year-old man. The medical examiner removed the body.
   • At 4:19 p.m. Nov. 7, a South 13th Avenue woman turned in a New Jersey driver’s license found on her property. Police returned it to the owner, who also lives on the street.
   • A Wilmington, Delaware, man came to headquarters at 6:53 p.m. Nov. 7 and said he had lost two auto dealer plates at Adesa Auto Auction. It was put on the record.
   • Sgt. Paul Meixner reported that a deer was trapped in the retention basin on the Adesa Auto Auction lot on North Main Street at 12:43 p.m. Nov. 8. Fish and Wildlife officials were notified.
   • Walmart security reported a female shoplifter was running towards the Reading Cinema at 2:45 p.m. Nov. 8. Patrols found Nicole Hewlett of Somerville and charged her with third-degree shoplifting of $818.46 worth of DVDs and video games. She was released.
   • A battery worth $65 was taken from a South 3rd Avenue porch on Nov. 7. An investigation was begun.
   • Esra Kucuk, 24, of Hillsborough was charged by security with shoplifting $254.74 worth of merchandise from Walmart on North Main Street at 3 p.m. Friday. She was released.
   • Michael T. Sieberg, 36, of Manville was arrested at 9:16 p.m. Friday on a $124 traffic warrant from Somerville. He was released on bail. In the same incident, Peter Hogan of Manville was arrested on a pending criminal warrant for $3,281. He was released, too.
   • Henry Castro, 24, of Bound Brook was charged with being disorderly and resisting arrest on North Main Street at 1 a.m. Saturday. He was released and transported to Somerset Medical Center for a head laceration received prior to police’s arrival. Patrolman Richard Canuso reported injuring his right knee during the incident.
   • A North Street woman came to headquarters at 5:12 p.m. Saturday to report her two checking accounts and a credit card were used at several locations in Fairfield, Conn. She said she waiting to hear from banks about a possible $957 reimbursement.
   • Three borough juveniles, ages 16, 16 and 17, were charged with underage possession of alcohol on South Street at 8:49 p.m. Saturday. They were released to their parents.
   • The rescue squad was called at 10 p.m. Saturday to the Northside Lounge on Brooks Boulevard, where a 40-year-old Hillsborough man had suffered a head laceration from a fallen object. He was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
   • Police removed a homeless man sleeping on the back porch of a South Main Street address at 11:49 p.m. Saturday.
