Arts Council of Princeton’s Flamenco Dance Students have Unique Opportunity to Perform in the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre’s Holiday Production

By Lisa Botalico
Arts Council of Princeton’s Flamenco Dance students will be featured in El Sueño a Spanish Holiday Dance and Music production, presented by the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre at the Kelsey Theatre, December 7 & 8. Based on the story of Nutcracker Ballet, Director and Arts Council’s Spanish Dance instructor, Lisa Botalico, sets her adaptation in a Spanish plaza as children and adults celebrate at a Three Kings Day fiesta. After Clarita’s gift of a Matador Doll breaks in a struggle with her younger sister, she falls asleep, dreaming of the fight between her doll and the Toro King. When she frees the Matador the Queen of the Majas transports her to the Land of the Majas for a celebration of dance and music from Spain and Latin America, including fiery flamenco, elegant Spanish Classical and energetic folk dances; as well as dances from Mexico, Peru, and the traditional malambo, dance of the Argentine Gaucho with the thrilling, whirling boleadoras!
Guest Artist, Peter Suarez, gaucho dancer, joins Alborada’s critically acclaimed dancers, singers and musicians for this unforgettable holiday feast of the senses for the whole family!
