GCU tabs new women’s lacrosse coach

Georgian Court University (GCU) Director of Athletics and Recreation Laura Liesman announced that Kerry O’Donnell has been tabbed as the third head coach in the six-year history of GCU women’s lacrosse.

O’Donnell follows Jackie McGarrigle (2011–2012) and Michael Migliorisi (2007– 2010) at the helm for the Lions.

“We are thrilled to have Coach O’Donnell join the GCU family,” said Liesman in a college press release. “I have complete confidence that Kerry will keep our proud program in the upper echelon of the CACC [Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference] while guiding our fine student-athletes to success both on and off the playing field.” O’Donnell, a former captain and All- American at Rowan University in Glassboro, joined the coaching staff of her alma mater upon graduation in 2008 as an assistant, contributing to the Profs’ back-to-back winning seasons and 2009 and 2010 NCAA Tournament appearances.

In 2012, O’Donnell joined the high school coaching ranks, as she served as an assistant with the Jackson Memorial High School girls lacrosse program while currently serving as head girls cross-country coach at Jackson Liberty High School.

A three-sport athlete at Toms River High School East, O’Donnell earned team MVP and First-Team All-Ocean County honors during the 2004 girls lacrosse season. She holds a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Rowan.
