POLICE BLOTTER: Nov. 16

East Windsor
   Michael McCord, 18, of Chatham Court was charged with trespassing and criminal mischief after he allegedly drove a vehicle onto the practice football field at Hightstown High School on Nov. 7 during the snow storm. Police said the car became stuck and was not able to be freed by the driver. School officials told police that damage to several of the school’s fields, marked with circular tracks, was about $1,000. Mr. McCord was also charged with reckless driving, careless driving and driving across a sidewalk. He was released after processing with a court date pending. Police said that the car, which remained stuck in the field, sustained approximately $1,200 worth of damage between Nov. 8 and 10 when its driver’s and passenger side mirrors were broken, as well as taillights and brake lights. There were dents on the hood and its tires were flat, police said.

   An East Windsor man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after the car he was riding in was stopped by police at 8:03 p.m. on Nov. 10. Alex Ruperto, 19, of Rockybrook Court, was a passenger in a 2001 Hyundai that was stopped on One Mile Road because it had a light out. Mr. Ruperto was released pending a court date.

   A caller told police that his vehicle parked on Dennison Drive was scratched on both sides by a sharp object sometime between 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 10 a.m. the next day.

   A woman reported to police that her vehicle was entered through a smashed rear door window and a stereo faceplate worth $170 was stolen sometime between 2 and 9:43 a.m. on Nov. 10 on Twin Rivers Drive North.

   A 22-year-old East Windsor man was charged with drunken driving and other offenses after her car was stopped by police on Conover Road at 2:44 a.m. on Nov. 10. Sheik Bakhsh was stopped after the black Volkswagen he was driving turned onto Conover Road from Route 130 south. He was given field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged. He was also charged with reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and speeding. He was released after processing pending a court hearing.

   The rear passenger tire and wheel were stolen from a 2001 BMW, parked overnight in the parking lot at Danbury Court between 5 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 9, police said. The car was discovered resting on two bricks, which caused body damage of $400, police said. The wheel and tire were valued at $500.
Hightstown
   On Nov. 7 at 3:28 p.m. on Rogers Avenue, officers arrested Jose Borrero, 26, of Mercer Street and charged him with contempt of court. Mr. Borrero was known to have a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000. He was taken into custody and later released with a new court date.

   On Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Canal’s Liquor Store, Mercer Street, on a reported shoplifting complaint. Police charged Dasia Powell, 19, of Fryer Courtwith shoplifting stemming from an incident that had occurred on Nov. 5. Also arrested was Abdulhakim Namoya, 20, of Enfield Drive, East Windsor, who accompanied Ms. Powell and who police said was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were released on summons complaints with pending court action.

   On Nov. 9 at 10:03 p.m. on Mercer Street, officers arrested Jeffrey Letourneau, 43, of Bristol Way, East Windsor, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, refusal to submit to breath testing, reckless driving, and failure to dim high beams. Mr. Letourneau was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, leading to field sobriety tests, which the subject failed. Mr. Letourneau was taken into custody and refused to provide breath samples, police said. Mr. Letourneau was issued several summonses with pending court action and was later released to a family member.

   On Monday at 1:34 a.m. on Franklin Street, officers arrested Israel Hightower, 39, of Burlington, N.J. and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. Mr. Hightower was stopped after being observed traveling over the double yellow line on Franklin Street. Upon being stopped the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage which led to field sobriety tests, which the subject failed. Mr. Hightower was taken into custody and was tested for blood alcohol content, which was 0.19 percent accordiong to police. He was later released to a family member with pending court action.

   Shayna Mapes, 25, of Taylor Avenue was arrested at 5:36 a.m. Tuesday on an outstanding $1,000 warrant from Hightstown Municipal Court. She was released after posting bail and a new court date set.

   Jarred Frankel, 57, of Summit Street was arrested at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday on a $500 outstanding warrant from Hightstown Municipal Court. He was charged with contempt of court and released after posting bail and a new court date set.
