LAMBERTVILLE — Things are looking good in Lambertville in regard to recovering from Hurricane Sandy, Mayor David Del Vecchio said.
”I think everyone in town has their electric power back,” the mayor said Monday afternoon. “Things are getting back to normal. The elementary school had a Halloween event yesterday, which we were glad to hear about. There were no injuries in town due to the storm.”
Unlike previous hurricanes and other major storms, Sandy spared the Lambertville flooding.
”There was no flooding of the Delaware River or flash flooding in town, which was a great relief,” the mayor said.
In West Amwell, Township Clerk Lora Olsen said Tuesday morning that all major electrical circuits in the township are back on line.
”Anyone without power should call JCP&L (Jersey Central Power and Light),” she said.
The calls should be made to 888-544-4877.
West Amwell Mayor George Fisher noted the firm that did most of the repair work on the township electric system is based in southern Ontario, Canada. Anyone who wishes to contact that firm by mail, the mayor said, should write to Entegrus Powerlines, 320 Queen St., P.O. 70, Chatham, Ontario, N7M5K2.
The mayor added, “Their director of operations, who came down with his crew, is Gary Aitken. He can be contacted at [email protected].”
Towns throughout the state reported electric crews from all around the country came to help repair the damage wrought by Sandy.
Ms. Olsen added all township roads are open. South Hunterdon Regional High School and West Amwell Elementary are in session, she added.
In Stockton, Borough Clerk Michele Hovan said Tuesday morning that electric power has been fully restored to the borough.
”Some minor cleanup remains to be done, but, otherwise, Stockton is up and running now,” Ms. Hovan said. “No major problems.”
