National Music Council’s Eagle Awards

By David Sanders
The National Music Council will be honoring Theodore Bikel, Judy Collins, Paul Shaffer and Sonny Fox at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the American Eagle Awards Luncheon at New York City’s Hard Rock Cafe on Tuesday, November 27th.
The coveted American Eagle Award is presented annually to celebrate extraordinary contribution to the nation’s musical culture and heritage. Presenters and performers will include Ben E. King, Martha Wash, Merima Kljuço, Sheldon Harnick and Peter Yarrow. A special corporate award to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store will recognize their great support of country music.
Proceeds form the event support the Council’s Music Education Advocacy efforts.
The Council’s annual Leadership in Music Symposium will precede the awards and feature an interview and Q & A with the honorees. The symposium offers a rare opportunity to access music leaders in an intimate setting. As promoting music education is the focus of the Council, we would like to include young musicians, students, and educators at the event and offer a special discount to these groups.
