CHAPTER B
Our postponed meeting of Nov. 8 was rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 21. Because of Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) some may have other plans. Hopefully, many will be able to attend.
Election of officers is on the agenda for this meeting. Nomination of officers was made at our October meeting. Upon approval in November, these newly elected officers and trustees will be installed at our January meeting.
Although I am not an elected officer, I expect to step down as publicity chairman at the end of this year. I have been writing this column for 15 years and I have enjoyed every minute of it and I thank all of you for your kind words and comments over the years. Have an enjoyable and safe Happy Thanksgiving.
    Tickets on sale:
Thursday, Nov. 29: Bingo. Cost of $3 includes two hot dogs, snacks, drink and prizes.
Thursday, Dec. 13: Holiday party luncheon at Soriano’s. Cost is $30. This is a new restaurant for us. It is located on Old York Road in Raritan. The November meeting will be your last opportunity to purchase a ticket for this event. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Monday, Dec. 31: New Year’s Eve at noon. We are back at the Brownstone in northern New Jersey. Featured will be a band, a comedian, two free drinks and a complete lunch (soup, salad, roast beef, roast turkey, stuffing, rolls and special dessert.) Soda and beer will be available at each table — all for $67. You will be home in plenty of time to welcome in the new year with your family. Spaces are still available. This will be your last opportunity to purchase tickets. No tickets for any event will be sold in December.
April 6-8, 2013: Trip to Washington, D.C., includes Smithsonian; full-day guided tour that includes Capitol, White House, Embassy Row and National Archives; drive through Georgetown; World War II Memorial, and Kennedy graves. Breakfasts and dinners included.
Cost is $279 per person for double occupancy. You can make a deposit of half the amount in November and the balance in January. This is a great time of the year to visit Washington. Hopefully the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom.
